Widow Skimmer Dragonfly

The picture of this Widow Skimmer Dragonfly male was taken at a pond near New Paltz, NY July 26, 2009. The main difference between the male and female is the coloring of the abdominal segments which are the ten sections from the rear going forward towards the head.

Northern Pearly-eye Butterly

During the Summer months, the opportunity to photograph birds slows down for awhile and the butterflies and dragon flies are abundant. We are loving to go to Ward Pound Ridge in Westchester to photograph this beautiful creatures. We went to Ward Pound Ridge last Friday and practically had the park to ourselves.
